I run the Down Easters on a rail as well, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have put the trax on my boat. Much easier to remove the rod holders when I don't need them. I love them on the rails, and have had no issues, but it's MUCH easier taking them out of the trax verses unscrewing from the rails (need to take them off to get the boat cover on when trailering a distance).
