Without seeing it myself I can't be sure, but it sounds like you're pushing the flapper in with the screwdriver from the intake sade, which if you have it in the empty or drain position that flap should not even be blocking on the intake side. But unless you've moved it intentionally, I'm not sure how it could have moved by itself. I suppose it could slip...the plastic arm which positions the cable from your lever up in the cockpit.
