I just put an 898 on my boat. I think the screen size is fine, but its on my dash. The side imagin is better than I expected. I played around with it on LOTW specifically looking for reefs. When I had difficulty using the GPS/map I would flip it to side imaging to locate. Really impressed.

As stated, I would not recommend putting it on a trolling motor.
