No, you will not need to power the puck separately. With the HDS units, the power is already being given to the unit, so once you have power to the unit, you will have power to the puck. This is a new feature to the HDS units, unlike how things worked with the LCX units.

You will need the NMEA starter kit. This will have everything you need, then add the LGC-4000 puck. No, the Ethernet can be used with HDS and LCX units, the only thing the Ethernet cable will do is share transducer information from one unit to another. It will not share Structure Scan on a LCX or LMS units however.
