I had my bilge pump fail during a storm a few weeks ago. After spending quite a while playing magyver, piecing my impeller back together and getting it to hold back on the shaft and praying it would work to get me thru the week (which it did). I replaced the pump when I got home with the type that has the whole cartridge that pops out and you can slide a new cartridge in. I bought a new spare cartridge and it stays it is in the boat just in case it ever happens again.

Ive had an auto float switch on mine for years and really like it. I think the switch is a Attwood?. Its been on the boat for 6 years and never had an issue with it. It was purchased at BPS.
