I have experience with the 997, and I believe it uses the same transducer. Many H-bird guys are using a second internal transducer for high speed readings. They are also doing this to protect the expensive side imaging transducer and mounting that higher on the transom to protect it from damage, which hurts high speed readings as well. Our work boat has a 997 SI and the high speed readings are not good until we slow back down. There are many other good websites out there that are H-bird specific that contain loads of info.
