Location: Syracuse, Indiana | The Navionics chip is pretty good until you get to the Coleman/Stanton area. No idea east of there. Memory is that Steve Heiting indicated something similar on the MH board. That said, pretty good is not perfect. I have marked several reefs that don't show on the FHS map. I can relate to the "pucker factor". In my pre-gps days, I was running across a bay on Eagle, no hazards on the map, bottom went from 60' to 2', then back down to 60' before I could react. Herbie's guides have shown me rocks that I never knew existed, and I've been on Eagle a week or two most of the last 15 or so years. My suggestion: stay at AML, hire a guide date (or 3), and take good notes. One day fishing with Herbie or one of his guides will teach you more about the lake than you can learn in a week by yourself. |
