Location: minocqua, wi. | the sonar is something that can and has been done with flashers and simple innexpensive units for years. the gps/map-chipping display and hardware seems to be the area the industry charges so much for inadequate equipment. i could see using an x-75/85 or flasher ... then bluetoothing my gps/map-function from my smartphone to a monitor for gps tracking etc...
essentially for $10.00 you can now have a 334c with the droid and the navionics app. the ONLY downside is that it's display is small ... maybe a waterproof i-pad on 3g is enough to knock these guys out of something they've failed with these past few years.
i'm thinking myself into a solution as we speak
