i'd 1st check to make sure there is nothing wrong w/ your Merc,,,then maybe calculate out the MPG for a few times out...your gps has a trip meter on it you could reset to zero, fill up, and run it 50-75 miles and then fill it back up and see what you burned up for gas... i would think if you had it in the motors sweet spot it wouldn't eat 10 gallons for a short 4 hour trip...i believe that motor and that boat you would be getting around 2-2.5 mpg in the motors sweet spot....check it and see what you are getting
