I like narrower gunnels. I have the old style (early 2000) Navigator, and like that it has narrow gunnels. I also like the more finished, but still narrow gunnels on the new Navigators too.

I would say that you can find a way to mount stuff to the narrow gunnell boats, and it offers that much more space in the boat, along with letting you be a little closer to the water for figure 8s like Steve said. Unless you like the look of the really wide gunnels, I don't see disadvantages to the narrow style.

The Navigators are great boats too!
