With the age of the motor, I would assume you would spend more on a rebuild than what the motor is worth. It would be a fun job, though and to do it, you'd want to find a service manual for the engine, which is not too hard (ebay). It does look intimidating, but in actuality, the engine design is not all that complicated.

My guess....with the age of the motor, I think you could either put the money you would have used on a rebuild could get you part way into a new motor or a very nice used motor... A good used 25hp that is still 2 stroke I would think you could find for around $1500 or so, if not less than that.
