Location: Kodiak, AK | My how the times change! I was in denial last year when I replied!! That, and I was still new to LSC and was didn't realize the advantages of one here. Thinking about it over the winter, looking at charts and new places to fish the next year (which was this year) and all the 2-6' of water with current this lake has got me thinking. Another thing as I sat and thought all winter long was about my fly casting and all the water I was misssing in a fast drift. With conventional gear you can burn the bait back, pick it up and throw it again before you've drifted 40'. Fly casting, you'll drift twice that by the time you're done with false casting, mending to allow for drift, letting the intermediate line settle as it's supposed to, etc.... I was drifting over alot of uncovered water. The PP came back into my head, because I really did always want one as I'm a saltwater guy at heart.
So I installed one this spring before season and WOW!! It's entirely changed how I fish and what I can do. One of the biggest things for LSC or any lake is fishing efficiently, and the PP has made me more efficient. I can fish channel edges, perch myself on a 5' flat and cast into the first weedline and not miss any water. It's awesome. So awesome, I'm thinking about putting a second one on the boat so I can sit perpindicular to the current or wind and not have to account for bow swing. They're awesome. And it didn't cost me the $3,000 I had it priced out at. I installed mine myself in an afternoon, and I was out the door with an 8' PP, bracket, Wave Pak, Remote Kit and Stealth Pump for less than $2,000.
(Larry- I bought a center console bay boat in the summer of 08 and I get some funny looks at the ramp, and guys telling me I should've gotten a "proper" muskie boat. Even had one guy tell me Ranger doesn't make a bay boat! But I love it! And I saw your show last season where you got the 24' Skeeter and how much you like it and how well they fish. They're awesome aren't they? I'd be hard-pressed to get a sit-down dual console boat after owning this boat.)
