Subject: Question about water pump

I was on the lake and stopped to get food at the bar. Sat inside for about 45 mins and when I got done and got on the boat had to use reverse in less than a foot of water to get the boat out and forgot to trim the motor up before I cranked her on(there was a lot of junk on the bottom that got kicked up)? After that I could not get the motor to pee?

My only thoughts were maybe some water froze inside the hose keeping it from working properly. Or the water pump sucked a bunch of the nasty crap off the bottom of the lake? Is there anyway to check without hurting the motor? And if it did suck some stuff up is there any tips on how to get it cleaned out.
This Newbie is greatful for any ideas!!!
