it's on a tandem axle trailer, which is heavier to pull, but the ride is quite noticeably smoother than with the single axle trailer. surge brakes on both trailer axles really make it easy to stop, too.

the new Dodges are great trucks. when you put the hammer down, the 5.7 HEMI has got plenty of passing power even when towing the boat. it's a huge difference over the same boat behind my previous '02 5.4 Ford. you can get lost inside this truck and it's really comfortable. i do wish a locking tailgate was standard, though.

pulling the boat at 70mph it consistently gets 10.6mpg; that jumps to 13mpg if i put the cover on the boat. i was surprised it made that much difference: 20% is a LOT of gas savings on a long trip.
