The Mag is designed for use on inland lakes, and will perform well on most waters up to 6000 acres. It isn't a 'big water' boat by any measure, yet I've had many successful trips to LOTW, Wabigoon, and other big lakes in a Mag. Keith and I just acquired a 'project' Esox LTD, can't wait to get her on the water. It was my rig I sold in 1995! I'll be fishing Pelican and other waters locally out of the rig.

If most of your use will be on big water where 3' seas are common, I'd look for a used 1700 or 1760.
