Was testing props on the Il river . Trying out my buddies mint 23 tempest . Ran on the river in this spot a few times during the summer. This happend in late oct. I was explaining to my "novice" passenger about the red and green cans and how to navigate by them (red right return) Lined up between the bouys and throttled up to test holeshot. Depth finder read 9' so I figured all was well. Just when the boat got on plane I felt a slight bump and felt the rear of the boat rise. Depth finder read 1' then dropped back to 9'. Shut er down trimmed up only to see my buddies prop bent twisted and dinged to death.
Test over ,pulled out and after further examination seems I smashed in the nosecone also.
Went into the bar that takes the launch fees and explained what happened and was told they were dredging the channel ,they removed 2 green cans that I could now see from the window ,were on shore . She told me they have been pulling a lot of stolen cars out and I prob hit one they missed.
