I've only ever seen one Etec have a problem....of course the motor was being told to push its boat through maybe 6 inches of water. 15mph to stopped in probably 10 feet. After it's owner got the lower unit free of the sandy bottom, it threw a fit for a while beeping all across the lake. Pretty entertaining, but I don't think it was the motor's fault.
