Ok then. It's definitely the 17 that is having issues. Have you checked all your power connections? How many power cables have you run? That unit has two power options, if you have both powered at the same time, it won't work, only one of the NMEA power cables need to be powered. You've already got power from your 5200 that is powering the gps puck. I would check your connections again on the 17.

Another suggestion, try putting dialectic grease on your connections, that will help also.
