I doubt it makes any difference at all. Had one boat with a very light blue hull for 12 years and it caught plenty of muskies. Last boat had a dark gray hull, used it for 17 seasons, and it caught plenty of muskies too. Now I've got a white hull and never worried at all. I'll be getting it up to my favorite Canadian trout water lake later this year for the first time, and will find out for sure then.

Take a look at the Great Lakes boats. Almost all are white and they catch salmon and trout inches from downrigger balls just under the hull in certain conditions in extremely clear water.

When a fish looks up wouldn't you suspect it normally sees light colored things like sky and clouds rather than a black floating blob in the middle of the water?
