Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot		One thought. If it's an older rubber hubbed tempest then it won't have the hole plugs. Your model had the old holes, not the ones that could take the plugs.

I'd drop the motor down one hole.

Yes you can lose traction at full trim, but you shouldn't if your set-up is dialed.
