Subject: RE: Kicker Performance

I have the 165 navigator with a 90hp 2 stroke motor on it. I have a johnson 8hp 4 stroke motor with a high thrust Solas propeller on it with very low pitch (5 pitch, 4 blade) At full speed on the kicker, I see 5.6 mph, but I can troll it down to about 1mph.

If you are considering purchasing one with a big motor 2 stroke as compared to 1 big 4 stroke, I'd suggest going with the two motors rather than 1. Reason: safety on the water. If that big motor goes down, the kicker is your means off the lake. Also, the kicker will give you more options with trolling since it will troll down slower than what you can do with a big motor...even a 4 stroke. There is a limit to everything, but a kicker gives you more options with the safety aspect to boot.
