I think you are right on, John. I climbed in the boat yesterday (in the shop) to test an observation. The proximity of the rear seat to the motor handle seems a major stupid design - you have to lean way, way over to turn the boat to the right. They should put the motor handle on the other side of the motor to bring it in line with the captain.
