My 2008 200 E-TEC is from the same family as your 150 and I had it programmed for XD100 only. If the motor is designed to use it, XD100 is cleaner burning being fully synthetic, and you use less of it, why not use it? The higher performance you run at for extended periods of time, the higher the oil ratio they recommend, as in don't run at the XD100 setting if you are racing or pulling heavy commercial type loads. But for my recreational use, I see no reason not to use it. According to the literature, the motor automatically runs more oil for the required number of break in hours at the minimum RPMs needed before it goes to the lesser oil usage mode. No problems last year and I'm not expecting any this year either. It used a lot less than my old carbed FastStrike 150, and that was an oil sipper compared to others on the market of comparable vintage.

The only draw back with programming it to use the XD100 is you then must use it, so take enough along if you are unsure of the supply on extended vacations. I haven't run it for a two week Canadian vacation yet, but doubt whether it will use more than a gallon and a half compared to my old 150 that used about 2 1/4 gallons for our typical two week trip. Price wise it's going to be close to a wash from what I see, probably a slight advantage to the E-TEC even using the much more expensive oil. Noticed it was almost $9 a gallon cheaper if I bought it in bulk so maybe the E-TEC will be quite a bit cheaper when the final figures are in!
