i did some similar deal-searching as what Halfpint describes.
i went to the Humminbird site and bought a "legacy" unit, getting a current model gps/sonar with full warranty that was just pre-loaded with the older 2007 Navionics maps and didn't have a transducer. the '07 mapset included Hi-Def versions of the lakes i fish the most anyway (and i can use a card for the '09 updates), plus i got a much larger unit for the same price of the size i ran last year. i added a thru-hull transducer and made a real step up while saving a TON of money at the same time.
