Location: Elk River, Minnesota | On most aluminum hulls, you would be very hard pressed to wear through the keel. That thing is at least 1/4" thick, and if you are beaching it on sand, it would outlast you before it would wear through the keel.
My boat gets plenty of banging and scraping on rocks in Canada, and I have yet to have any keel wear through. that is a thick chunk of metal...
I wouldn't worry about it....
If I am not mistaken, the lunds double-up the keel in the front as well...so you have even more durability there...
