Subject: Re: gas vs diesel

Location: Twin Cities
I've done a trip to KY from MN with a 7.3 powerstroke and my 5.3 gasser and I know someone who followed with a cummins. The powerstroke got 13.7mpg and the 5.3 got 17'ish. This was when diesel was $4.25, ugh bad idea! The cummins was pulling down 19-20mpg. The boats are all fairly small, 16 foot aluminums.

I'd get a diesel in a heartbeat, just not a powerstroke. The ford trucks are so much bigger/heavier, they have a lot more weight to push around...I have another friend with a duramax, driving at 65mph empty he can pull down 22-23mpg.
