I would not reccomend anyone who does not know what they are doing replacing it
IM an auto mechanic by trade most vehicles it ranges from $300-$500 depending on the application Im not sure what it would be for an outboard , but I can tell you that I had a guy come in and get a quote on a timing belt, then he decided to let his "handy " friend do it to save him a couple of bucks, well it turns out the friend did not install the timing belt at the proper marks, thus bending half the valves on the engine and turning a $500 job int a $3000 job - just my 2 cents!
