whether dealers wheel and deal in the spring or fall depends on what lattitude you live in. Our local PBS said they are not even getting in the 2009s till spring. no one is going to buy up here now and just sit on it over the winter. the new ones are now going to southern dealers. so from a DEALER, spring will be the time, at least for us in the north.

However, I agree with an earlier comment that for PRIVATE sales, fall is the best time. Its like buying a house. everyone puts its on the market in the spring if they aren't in a big hurry. Why? because thats when the buyers are out looking, meaning less of a buyers market and higher prices (but these days its always a buyers market to some degree). The ones who are selling now are doing so because they need the $$.

Becasue depreciation is high right now on used, and dealers can only cut so much on new, I say buy one thats a year or two old on a private sale and offer a bargain basement price. thats your best value these days.
