Boat dealers have very little margin to work with. If they give you much of a discount on many brands, they will be making little or losing money. The reason the deals are good this time of year is the floor plan interest on most boats still on the lot from 2008. Every month that rig sits, the dealer pays out a few hundred at the least; it doesn't take long where the rig has cost them more than it traditionally sells for. Also, to put in the 2009 models, the dealers need to free up floor plan credit to pay for them.
