I put them on my 18' Tuffy Renegade and have been very happy with them. It was not underpowered but the tabs really helped hole shot and elevating the stern at all speeds, which resulted in a drier ride. The company was great with any and all questions and sent some additional parts for free. Follow the directions carefully, use lots of 3M sealant, countersink the holes, and no problems. I admit it was one of the scarier things I've done to my boat, but installation went great and result for me was outstanding. They do work "automatically" in the sense of providing a lot of lift. This can affect your trim/prop quite a bit, so I'd talk to the guys at Nauticus. Also be aware of their location when trailered and leave room for your straps. Hope that helps!
