A fuse is required to protect the wiring. That is all it does. You can run your power from the battery. You must put the fuse at the battery end of your power leads, in case of a short. That way, the fuse blows, and your wiring doesn't fry and start a fire. The fuse will do nothing to protect the sonar unit.


I was talking about the validity of the warranty and if it was going to be void. The only thing I found in the manual was the warning about using the fuse. And agreed, ditto to the fuse will do nothing to protect the sonar unit.
