The 90 4 stroke on my dad's boat has been a good motor. I think it's a 2000 or 2001. The only real problem happened when he forgot to put stabil in one winter, causing all sorts of problems. Always starts really well. One thing that I haven't figured out is why it has trouble on takeoff. If I go from idle and slam to full throttle, the motor dies. I imagine it's a fairly easy fix, but never worried about it.

That might be as little as a carbeurator adjustment if it has carbs (with that year, I believe it will...but unsure). If it dies, the motor is either getting too much fuel or not enough. The fuel air mixture would need to be adjusted, but with multiple carbs, they need to be adjusted the same amount. That should take care of it...
