The 9.9 that I have does run great but it was on the boat when new which is 8n years old or so.....I thought a new Mercury/ Honda would have a warranty, and be more fuel efficient...... I fish a 9.9 lake but it seems like Everyone uses a 15 with 9.9 labels so it can push the heavier boat a little faster.....Thanks Sr.

They are all carbed motors, so fuel efficiency will not be much better with new. I don't understand the need for a warranty. #1, that 9.9 should run forever with proper maintenance. #2, if it does take a dump and you had to buy a new one, it's not like you are out anything. #3. you'r not going to get that much more speed with a 15 HP over the 9.9. And, isn't that why they limit the lake to 9.9 in the first place?

Also, I'd have a hard time calling the 9.9 Suzuki/Johnson amazing. There's a lot of guys out there with E-tecs that run Yamahas and Mercs for kickers, for the simple fact that they run better than the Johnsons(Suzuki). The Suzuki/Johnson 9.9 had a problem loading up at lower speeds. Just speaking from experience.
