The time to question values of your personal property is at the time on policy inception not at the time of the loss. I doubt a lawyer will be able to do anything unless your agent forged your signature on your application. Now, a good agent would sit down with you to review your policies and make sure you are covered properly. I hope it all works out for you in the end. By sharing this experience you may have saved someone else the same type of trouble.
