Location: Michigan | If you are careflu, and shop around, you can save yourself a lot of $$$. I bought a 2005 620 when it was about 18 months old. It had less than 100 hours on it and I saved myself 15K compared to buying new. As much as I would like to buy a brand spanking new rig, 15K is A LOT of cash...
I ended up re-rigging to my liking, so I have to put some additional time and money in to it, but now I have the perfect boat. No, I don't have "the very latest and greatest", but it is a phenominal rig. If you really look at it, the 15 K will get you the latest hull and a longer warranty. There may be value there, but for me it isn't worth 15K. My hull, although not the latest, still works just beautifully.
If you have a money tree out back, buy new, if not, put a little effort in to shopping and save yourself some cash. Don;t limit yourself to boats just in your area. Most sellers are willing to work with you on meeting in the middle. I bought my first used boat from a guy 5 hours from me, and the Ranger i drove 9 hours. It was worth it!
Good luck. |
