Location: Elk River, Minnesota | with regards to lowering the motor...definitely a good idea. I have found that raising it and lowering it a couple of times will move more water out as well. The biggest thing is to not have water frozen in a line or in the head...if it expands, lots of trouble and $$$
When fishing, keeping the lower unit in the water is smart too. some of those real die hards are out there in the 20's fishing the last hints of open water... gotta play real smart in those conditions...
I've often wondered if there would be a way to run RV antifreeze through the cooling system before storage just to be safe, but I have never done this, nor have I had a problem with my motor with water.
