Thanks for the recommendation. I looked over the motor real close and discovered it was manufactured in 1964. My father in-law had some additional info on it. He verified it is a 50:1 mix. Motor was bought new at Sears for around $330.00 in the fall of 64. It was used sporadically for summer vacations to Lake Vermillion in Minnesota. They used to throw it in the back of the car to throw on the small aluminim boats the resorts made available to their customers. I guess it helped put many walleye on the dinner table -- most caught near the Vermillion dam. Found out the last time it had been started was July of 89 - about the same week my son was born. Anyway, I built a run-up stand so that I could put a tank of water under her, got a new tank and fuel line, bought some quality oil and gas and got her to turn over. It was a little stubborn to get started at first. Once I primed the carb and cylinders she started right up. She seems a little sluggish on the throttle and doesn't want to idle at low RPMs, but I imagine this will improve once I have a chance to run her for awhile. At low RPMs she has a tendency to knock real hard then sputter to a stop. If the RPMs stay above idle, she seems to run well.
Do you think I need to run any type of carb cleaner throgh her or are there any recommedations I should follow considering she hasn't been run in 18 years? I greatly appreciate the feedback on this forum. I will try to post a pic tonight of the old girl.
