Went out yesterday and my maxxum had steering problems. It will only rotate 180 degrees now. It is like there is something physically stopping it from turning.

The real confusing part is that sometimes I can go from the 6 o'clock position to the 12 o'clock position, then for no reason at all I can go from the 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock position. It rotates where it allows me to turn.

I looked in the pedal and head for an obstructuion. The gears and cable in the head of the motor look fine. The cable tension is tight (I even tried backing it off and tightening it down). The clamp holding the outer shaft is tight. I am at a loss.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, if I have to get a new trolling motor, I may be done for the year. Money is tight!
