Check to make sure the sending unit is not loose. If you have a meter, you can check the signal from the sending unit for stability. It it is stable, then I'd look into a new guage. If not, then I would say the sending unit is faulty. Ask your dealer if he has a guage you can borrow to check it out. Chances are he has one he took off when installing some SmartCraft gauges.
