Thinking about getting a Minn Kota Maxxum 70 - 24volts, variable speed, foot control, 70lbs thrust, 42" shaft trolling motor.

Any problems / recommendations???

Cabela's advertise ....
"This unit is available with Minn Kota's Universal Sonar Transducer built-in and ready to go. "
However, when I called them and asked them to check, they said the unit does NOT include the Universal Sonar. Of course, I can not get an email response back from Minn Kota about whether this is suppose to be included or not. Then, Thorn Bros makes one believes it is included on all the Maxxum models. I sent them an email asking if their max 70 included the universal sonar. It seems Minn Kota doesn't clearly identify their models to their dealers....nor to me.

Then, I see where others experienced problems with the Universal Sonar.

I also noticed a topic where the brushes could have been damaged in shipping.
Sounds like if I buy a new trolling motor I should take my old one along to Canada for backup.

Should I be looking at a different trolling motor or gamble on the Maxxum 70 without the universal sonar?
