seaman: Mikie is right- you need to be careful if moving the cranking battery. Best bet if it's only ~8 ft. is to up size the cable size at least one size. FYI it's not amperage drop that will get you, it's voltage drop in the cable because of the increased resistance. The starter will still want the same current/amperage. However, the voltage drop reduces the effective power at the starter.
