i think it is still an option but well worth it. it makes a great casting platform for the guy in back.it also provides plenty of extra storgae. i have an 8"x18"x30"
"rubbermaid" type dry storage tub plus a lifejacket,spare prop a 2 batteries under mine.it does flip up for easy access.
