LED's are definately the way to go, they will last forever and have extrememly low power draw. For example our new rescue truck our fire department purchased has one of the brand new all LED lightbars on top. This baby is bright and the whole thing draws less than 5 amps. The halogen lightbars on our other trucks draw upwards of 100 amps. The LED's have a life of something like 150.000 to 200,000 hours. I recently bought about 200 white and red LED bulbs and all the resistors so I can make myself some extra light for things. I am going to install some in the boat as well, I have nice metal holders for them or I can put them in a small housing for other lights to convert them to LED. I will post pictures or show you when I do this.
