Yup, happened to me, just as you described. What’s nice is that they’re replacing them with the 2002 model that has EFI. So It isn’t that bad. I had the new motor put on over the winter, but have no hours on it yet. I can’t wait.
I have a hunch they ALL(2001 new model year) were recalled and they’re just slowly replacing them with EFI. I got my letter in August.
