Do not jump positive to negative on your batteries. that will give you a 24 volt system. Look at the top of page 21 that was referenced, it even says 24 VOLT! Go positive to positive and negative to negative. Like I said earlier, think of how you would jump a car if you forget later on how to do this. I would not cut 2 wires either. I would wire them to the correct terminals as labeled. It doesn't matter what battery you go to once you wire them in parallel, it will all be in one circuit.

For others out there, Fisher and I were talking about why the trolling motors have 4 wires from the TM plug. The only reason I could come up with is when you run at higher speeds or load you need to draw more amps and an AWG8 wire realistically supports about 30-40 amps without creating heat (to much resistance), so I was assuming the second set of wires were to aid in this higher amp draw. Not sure if that is correct but it's a thought.
