I love having a marine radio. Not only does it give you the safety advantage of being able to contact help in an emergency, but it also gives you a way to stay in touch with others on the water. Sometimes to relay info about a bite, other times to help pass time while trolling.

If you are running bigger water, make sure to get a suitable anntenae to cover the water you are on. Don't skimp here as that is the biggest contact point in the system. Without a good anntenae, it won't do you any good to have the marine radio.
