I had a 175 EFI, same rig bn is referring to. I got rid of it due to economy, I loved the boat, hated the economy, and I drove it respectably. Most always between 3400 and 4200 rpm which in that rig equated to 33-38+mph depending on conditions.

I now have a 618 VS with a 135 Opti and I can run slightly faster than I did with my 690/175efi and I use about 1/3-1/2 of the fuel I used to.

EFI's are fairly dependable motors, Merc's were good, Yami's were bullet proof but you really need to drive them in the 3-4,000 rpm range or you will go broke keeping fuel in the tank, even at that they are not cheap to run. I got sick of gas prices starting to dictate how often I was fishing. Think it through before you make the change, my advice would be to save your money until you can find a boat you like with either a 4-stroke or one of the direct-inject motors, in the long run I think you will be much happier.

Just my thoughts....
