Well first off, why wouldnt you compare a Honda 115 to Mercury 115? One major difference I can see is that Honda motors are heavier motors. A Honda 90 weighs as much as a Mercury 115, almost exactly the same. A Honda 115 is a considerable amount of weight heavier weighing in at just under 500lbs versuses a Mercury 115 weighing in at 386lbs. So I would say if you compared apples to apples, weight would be one of your biggest issues. Both are great engines, heard a lot of good about Honda but kinda have dropped off the radar in the technology department. Haven't seen anything new from them or ways they have worked to get better. Another thing to keep in consideration, yes I might be a bit bias to Mercury, however, and people can give me a hard time all they want about this but if you were ever to have a problem with a Mercury and your on a trip many miles away, the chance of having a Mercury dealer around is much more likely than say a Honda dealer. Not to mention, you might also get a mile or two more speed wise out of a Merc 115 than a Honda 90. Just my thoughts.
