I assume you are comparing current motors, the standard 225 Etec and the 225 Etec HO. The major difference between the two is in the lower unit, where the HO model has a sport-type, high speed gearcase. The HO is also supposed to be at the high end of the allowable horsepower for 225s (Motors are allowed a +/-10% range for labelled horsepower). That puts the HO at around 247-248 HP, a real advantage for boats with a max HP rating of 225. In a related note, I was speaking to the local Evinrude dealer/repairman last week, and he said that for boats with high enough HP ratings, he always recommends the 250 over the 225 HO; says the lower units are 'bulletproof'.

If you are asking about the 225 Etec vs the 225 Ficht HO, I know far less, other than it is older, more complex technology in the Ficht.
