The bow cap is just large enough to properly cover the radius of the front deck and hull joint. Look at how the trolling motor mounts, too. If the front cap was smaller as you suggest, there would be no place to properly bolt on a trolling motor; right or left side. Yes, the 1890 is going to be offered as a GT and CG, call Quams Motor Sports for a quote. I'm lost as to how the bow cap keeps you further 'off the water' could you clarify? You can literally touch the water with a 6' rod tip from the front deck without bending a bit.
